Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day
Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day! Check out these 10 events that you and your family can go to to celebrate.
1. St. Patrick’s Day Weekend Block Party at J. Gilligan’s
Gilligan’s in Downtown Arlington will celebrate its 40th St. Patrick’s Day Block Party this weekend. There will be live music every day. Friday and Saturday will include food and drink specials. Sunday is for the family, with kids’ activities starting at noon. There will be face painting, a photo booth and green energy drinks.
2. St. Pawtrick’s Day at Legal Draft
Make it a pet’s lucky day. Legal Draft has partnered with the Arlington Animal Alliance for its St. Patrick’s Day party. A mobile adoption unit will be set up Saturday from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the Taproom at Urban Union in Downtown Arlington. The brewery will also have live music and a food truck on site.
3. Errol Spence Jr. vs. Mikey Garcia
Two of the world’s top fighters face off at AT&T Stadium Saturday night. The winner will leave with the World Welterweight Championship. Before they step into the ring, they have to hit the scales. And you’re invited to watch the weigh-in ceremony for free Friday afternoon. The doors open at 1:00 p.m. at the Stadium. The event begins at 2:00.
4. Creepy Crawlers at River Legacy Living Science Center
End spring break with some eight-legged friends. River Legacy Living Science Center gives you the chance to get an up-close look at some creepy crawlers. The center, located at 703 NW Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76006, is hosting three sessions Friday: 11:30 a.m., 1:30 & 3:30 p.m.
5. Spring Break at Six Flags Over Texas
How about visiting Gotham City or Metropolis this spring break? Six Flags Over Texas is open through March 24th. The park is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
6. Stomp Wars at UT Arlingto
The nation’s best Youth Steppers will face off at College Park Center at UT Arlington with $10,000 in prize money up for grabs. Step programs have increased attendance at schools across the country and prompted some colleges to even offer step scholarships. Watch the next generation compete in “Stomp Wars” Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
7. Goat Yoga by North Texas Goat Yoga
It may not be the most zen yoga class you’ve ever taken, but it will probably be the most fun. “NTX Goat Yoga” is hosting a class Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. You’ll have an hour of yoga followed by time to get the perfect Instagram shot. The class is at 4508 Colt Drive.
8. UTA Mavericks Baseball
Make it a triple-header! The UT Arlington Mavericks are home all weekend for a series against Georgia Southern. The first 100 fans at Friday’s game will get a free Blaze bobblehead. And Sunday is the perfect day to take the family. Up to four kids get in free with each adult ticket.
9. Storytime at the Arlington Public Library
Open your children’s eyes to a world of reading. Our team at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library is passionate about books and wants to help you build an avid reader. Storytime begins at 10:30 a.m Saturday and is designed for kids four years old and younger.
10. Live Music and Events at Texas Live!
It’s a weekend full of live music and great food at Texas Live! And of course, St. Patrick’s Day favorites are on the menu. Miller Tavern & Beer Garden is hosting a breakfast buffet Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. You’ll also have a chance to win a gift card and a pot of gold!
